In defense of Mother Earth

The World Forum on Food Sovereignty...at times we may think that there is something very subjective, in our convictions. Sometimes we can imagine that the globalized world has reached such a complex state that it forces the individual to sit back, avoiding action and involvement.

Or we can think, as someone wrote, that the crazy train of growth is a colossal force which we must confront bare handed if we intend to defend the planet. Bare handed, operating on a world and local scale at the same time, with renewed sensitivity and without losing hope. More or less what 642 men and women who represented 450 associations and rural communities in 93 different countries did over four days in Rome last November, in parallel and in counterpoint to the FAO summit on food safety.
